If you find yourself in the picturesque coastal town of Akaroa, L'Escargot Rouge is a delightful cafe that promises a memorable experience for every palate. Located conveniently at 67 Beach Road, this charming café welcomes you with a warm atmosphere, perfect for both a quick refreshment and leisurely dining.

As you step inside, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee envelops you, enticing you to explore their diverse menu. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or just in need of a caffeine fix, you'll find something to tickle your taste buds. From the robust Short Black and Long Black (NZ$4.50 each) to the indulgently creamy Flat White (NZ$5.90), every sip delivers a caffeine boost, expertly sourced and crafted. Don’t miss out on their inviting Flavoured Lattes, especially the Spiced Chai Latte and Matcha Green Tea Latte, each priced at NZ$6.40, offering unique flavors that are both refreshing and satisfying.

But it’s not just the drinks that shine at L'Escargot Rouge. The café is known for its selection of delectable baked goods and desserts that elevate any coffee break into a special occasion. Satisfy your sweet cravings with a slice of their famous New York baked cheesecake or the delightful mango coconut mousse, both of which have received high praises from customers like Vicky Huang, who found her dessert experience utterly enjoyable.

The friendly service enhances your overall visit—something that Nikki Adams highlighted when she raved about the staff’s genuine warmth and generosity, setting the establishment apart in Akaroa. The café’s setting, with scenic views from every table, creates a stunning backdrop for your meal, especially if you choose to enjoy it indoors away from the chilly winds.

Gluten-free diners will also be pleased to discover a variety of options, such as the bacon, blue cheese, and spinach tart, which Angela Ferguson found to be a delightful and hearty breakfast choice. Moreover, frequent visitors like TM ONG love the carrot cake and are eager to come back for more of the café’s tempting delicacies in the future.

In a town where options may be limited early in the morning, L'Escargot Rouge stands out as a beacon of culinary delight, making it the perfect pit stop before embarking on one of the local boat excursions or simply enjoying a day of exploration. With every visit, there's a promise of friendly service, delicious food, and that comforting feeling of being at home. Whether you're in the mood for a quick coffee or a leisurely breakfast, this café will not disappoint.

The only place open early in Akaroa with beautiful pies and baked goods. Perfect for our day out on the boat. Awesome coffee, and the most beautiful lady served us with a beautiful smile and she was so helpful and generous. I would highly recommend going here if you love great service and beautiful food!

We were going to head to another cafe but the walk time was considered to be too long, before our dolphin cruise (review to be posted later, when I can upload some photos hopefully). We had hot drinks and some food from the cabinet. The croissant cake that I had was very nice, don't know if I will see it in another bakery to compare, but it was yummy. Recommended.

Today my husband and I had one of the hardest days of our lives. We visited this Cafe with our 1 year old George and were treated immediately with such warmness and kindness. They went above and beyond with George. We had tea and cake and it was hot and delicious. I couldn't rate them high enough Xx
